This blog post is part of our Forever Learning Series. How people write and what they write has the power to teach you a lot about them and how they view/ exist in the world. Whatever you think it teaches you about them should never be used as a weapon. It should be a path to a better world and more connectivity. For that to truly happen, it requires more than one parties involvement. Here is our latest version of ink and an audible story from Audiobook Masters.

The South happened to me.
When I say the South, I mean... the southern portion of Africa

She happened to me
She happened through school
She happened through migration
She happened through lack of employment in The East
She happened.

I am grateful for her
I love her now more than I can properly explain to others
I dream of returning to her often and truly tapping into her channels to create many things in these less than 100 years I have left to live

While there, she introduced me to a lot
While there, I saw several things
While there, I bumped into various names and theories
I remember them all

One of those names was Bessie Head.
Bessie, Bessie, Bessie Head

She was on so many text books and pieces of writing
It would be easy to mistake her for God Himself
How was she able to conquer so much and determine what children in these Kalahari classrooms would hear and be educated on

I no longer live in The South
I live across the big water and it often grows cold here
When it grows cold, it becomes the perfect time to get lost in books, hot coffee and small business marketing
In between getting lost in those things, I found whispers from this woman again thanks to a few daring men

Bessie, Bessie, Bessie Head... I still wonder about you a lot

Here are one of her stories
But before that, and because colonialism happened, let us pray...

Thank You God for ink
Thank You God for time
Thank You God for technology
Thank You God for shrinking the world and making it accessible
Thank You for those who dare to dream and take the first step, although they do not see the whole staircase
It is because of the ones that dared like them, that any of us still are, I think.
This might be a lie, if it is so, God... show me a better way to think and view this world You have allowed me to be in
Until my next prayer, bless everything and be with those that knowingly need You and even with those that have retreated from You
Amen in the blood of Christ
